SYNON (FUSION 2e / COOL 2e) ANALYST PROGRAMMER. Sheffield. Salary £ competitive

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an Analyst Programmer who has Synon (Architected Rapid Application Development) skills, based at our Sheffield, South Yorkshire site. The role will report to the Application Development & Support Manager and will be part of a close team working to facilitate the Group requirements. Occasional travel to other sites may be required.

Main accountabilities:

An essential part of this role is the delivery of developments on time, in full and within budget, whilst utilising best practice and the best tool from within our range of applications.
The position will primarily support a specific Site's legacy ERP System, but will also support the new ERP roll out and other Group requirements as they arise. The successful candidate will be involved in the following:
Interpreting functional/technical specifications and converting these into innovative business solutions
Supporting the Implementation Teams with Technical Resource
Championing best practice
Communication at all levels within the organisation
Managing support requests ensuring that SLA's are not exceeded
Ensuring that current documentation is maintained and new systems are documented
Ensuring that all the Groups Systems are optimised and reside on suitable hardware
Ensuring that all the Groups Systems have adequate high availability and/or back up schedules
Ensuring that all the Groups Systems are secure

Skills and experience:

Detailed knowledge of Synon (Fusion 2e / Cool 2e)
Knowledge of the following languages/applications would be advantageous; RPG Programming, Lotus Notes Development, SQL, PHP, HTML, Wed Sphere, Route One, Cognos 8, REIMS/EDI
Ability to recommend best practice for development and support of our ERP system - Infor (formally JBA and GEAC) System 21 version 3.5 and Aurora 2.2.
Supporting Business Applications and End Users
Ability to interpret and understand business requirements
Delivery of timely, accurate solutions/information to the business
Continuous improvement; develop “best practice” and ensure that lessons learnt during a development are analysed and used to improve the next implementation
